Frequently asked questions

  • Is everything I say confidential?

What you share during our counselling sessions is confidential, with a few legal (usually rare) exceptions. These exceptions include situations where there is risk of harm to yourself or others, or where required by law. These limits will be explained to you during our first counselling session.

  • How much do you charge?

Fees are £60 per counselling session. This is payable 48 hours in advance of your appointment to secure your booking.

  • Are my issues 'bad enough' to need counselling?

You don’t need to have a major problem or to have reached ‘rock bottom’ to seek counselling support. Many people come to counselling to simply understand themselves better or for personal growth. If you’re unsure if counselling is for you, I can offer a free chat to help you decide.

  • What issues can counselling help with?

As a counsellor, I can support with a range of issues, including anxiety, low mood, stress, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, big life changes, boundary issues, and more.

  • How many counselling sessions will I need?

This varies for everyone. Some people feel ready to finish after a few sessions, others prefer longer-term work. It can take time to build trust and open up about deeply personal experiences. I will check in with you regularly to make sure the sessions are working for you and adapt as needed.

  • What if I don't know what to say?

That’s completely okay. I’m experienced working with people who are unsure of where to start or how to describe how they feel. I can guide the conversation if needed. Part of the counselling process is to gently uncover what’s gone on and unpick the effect it’s had on you.
